“…Only male child of three, I grew up in a modest family surrounded by the love of my wonderful parents and two sisters who gave me important values and the respect for life.

The irresistible passion for this sport is a gift of my father with whom I used to play ball in the court-yard.
When I was eight , he took me playing with the kids of Dinamo Bucarest , the only team I played with in Romania.

There I spent the thoughtless years of my football youth … there I learnt to play football simply and with a lot fun … there I met many smart people who believed in my qualities and gave me the opportunity to rise.
When I was 15, with the whole routine of juvenile teams “all at a breath ” as well as a lot of goals scored in the several categories, I started in “Divizia A: that emotion is still in my stomach … it was 1985, Dinamo Bucarest vs Politehnica Timisoara, at less than half an hour from the end the Trainer told me: “Florin warm up, now it's up to you ….”

Well guys, no salivation and wooden legs, but a great quarter of an hour taking a lion's share … I was a boy!
The debut with the National team took place three years later, in 1988, in Tel Aviv vs Israel, we won 4 to 1: great chills in that occasion too, but an increased awareness of my abilities and three more years of experience allowed me to live that moment more quietly.

With the national team I played totally 43 matches, scoring 23 goals, that is more than one goal every two matches … not bad I'd dare say!
The most beautiful memories with the “yellow shirt” are bound of course to the great international matches I had the luck and the pleasure to join as a protagonist close to very big champions: from the World Cup Italia '90 up to Euro '96, not to mention the wonderful American World Cup Usa '94 that was maybe the top of my football career and that of the Romanian team as well.

Well, that was a gorgeous team, do you remember for example the captain? A mr. George Hagi?...so to name one … even though I'm convinced that this team earned very little respect to the value of each single player.
Anyway, that was for me a year full of personal satisfactions and important sport awards: in the World Cup qualification series I reached the first place in the classification of the European bombers with 9 goals… even before players like Roby Baggio who scored 5. And in America, even though we did not turn up to the Finals, things were not so bad: I scored 4 … yet behind Roby Baggio who still scored 5 and Romario, top scorer with 6 goals: what about?
1994 turned out to be really thrilling in also concerning the clubs: with Milan we won the Championship and the Champions League as well: as if to say champions in Italy and Europe in the same year, two prestigious aims that are worth a whole career! It was unforgettable … to compete in a team with so many champions of different nationalities.

Although I am deeply bound to my origins and to my nation I'm feeling like an “ European ” player: indeed my football parabola winds along whole Europe: first in Italy in Bari , Verona , Brescia and Milan ; then three seasons in Spain at Español Barcelona; then again the British parenthesis at West Ham; a nd the adventure in Germany Stuttgart that can be considered as the prelude to my return to Brescia; finally, I concluded my career in the Principality of Monaco .
And now?
Well, now .. I'm enjoying my family: I got married with sweet Astrid ten years ago and we have two wonderful children, Andrea and Alessandro who feel like doing everything … except playing football!!!
